Really eager to make a start but I haven’t got any parts yet, the washing machines on TradeMe were going for more than I wanted to pay, especially as they were faulty, so very disappointed this morning
Went to a local scrap dealer & found 2 washing machines, ( I only needed one but it would be good to have a back up), they were slightly bent & broken but the motors looked ok, due to health & safety it wasn’t easy to poke around much. To be honest I think I made a bit of a nuisance of myself, the place was very busy & they didn’t have time to baby sit me, anyway I got the washing machines for $20 each. Plus I also got a long galvanised pole & a few smaller ones although I was still not sure exactly what I wanted. I was also able to pick up a decent 12v battery for $50, this was actually really good as it was huge with 3 times the amp hours as a normal one (900 amp hours).
I was out delivering some other bits & pieces that I make, yes I actually have to make some money to pay the bills, anyway while I was out I noticed a plastic pipe poking out of a builders skip, after a bit of poking around trying to not look like I was homeless I found a slightly longer 6 inch PVC pipe (160mm outside diameter) at about a metre long. Very happy with this plus there was a length of 2 by 4 that might come in handy for the horizontal bit at the top for mounting the generator on.
Today was a good day after all.
The 2 bent & battered washing machines get another lease of life.
The pipe for the turbine blades, a battery & some tubing, a good find
Not all washing machines are triangular in New Zealand.
